As a copywriter and editor, I enjoy working on projects both academic (graduate theses) and lighthearted (emails about furniture).

I excel at managing and collaborating on complex publishing projects in the digital and analog realms (from online marketplaces to museum catalogues).

RH CONTEMPORARY ART

RH Contemporary Art began in 2013 with the mission to sell cutting-edge contemporary artworks to a mainstream audience (ideally to customers of Restoration Hardware, its parent brand). As its inaugural copywriter, I wrote artist bios and artwork descriptions that piqued customers’ curiosity but didn’t overwhelm them with art jargon.

RESTORATION HARDWARE

Contemporary furniture with midcentury roots. That was the inspiration for Restoration Hardware’s RH Modern, a line of minimalist furniture that debuted in 2015. The copy I wrote mimicked the designs: sleek and spare, with lush details. For example, the Luke Leather Chair:

“A sleek metal base anchors our leather swivel chair, an inspired take on the modern forms of 1970s Italian design. Sophisticated and supportive both, its contoured arms, flared back, and lumbar pillow offer a singular embrace.”

ARTSY

Art is for everyone, not just those with PhDs. I copyedited a series of articles for Artsy that brought major art movements to life. How did Art Nouveau get its name? What does Futurism have to do with fascism? Learn more here.

CALIFORNIA COLLEGE OF THE ARTS

Makeshift rafts fashioned by Cuban immigrants, the performance of stuttering, and the 1987 film La Bamba: these diverse topics were all subjects studied and written about by graduate students in the Visual and Critical Studies department at the California College of the Arts in 2015. As a graduate of the program, I loved copyediting the 2015 and 2016 editions of Sightlines, the annual publication of student theses (including all five hundred footnotes).
